Post Burn Clean-up
Once the poker has cooled to the touch, wipe away any ash, soot, or debris with a moist towel.
Seasoning the Metal
Just like cast iron cookware, steel benefits from being "seasoned."
While the poker is slightly warm (not hot), rub a thin layer of vegetable oil, beeswax, or mineral oil over the metal. This seals microscopic fissures and repels moisture.
Proper Storage
Always store your poker indoors or in a dry, covered area during the off-season
